The Heart Behind the Film - Director's Statement
If you’ve ever wished you could rewind the clock and muster up the courage to say something
you never did, then you understand Left Unsaid.
I wanted to write a story that felt not only true-to-life but intimate -- that tapped into the ebb-and-flow of yearning for someone and something -- and felt as nostalgic as two young, former lovers – Myles & Precious – who never quite got it right but share a child.
In my adolescent days, I was that child. Too young to know any different when my parents split, but old enough to fondly recall being picked up on Friday nights and dropped off on Sunday afternoons at my grandma's church.
"Left Unsaid" is also inspired by my life, in that sense.
This film dances between humor, drama, and romantic tones. This was rooted in a desire to communicate the essence of the couple’s relationship, both in the past and in the present, showcasing the duality that can exist with those we love.
While the story is special to me because I’ve lived it, my goal is that folks walk away reminded of what it can cost us when we don’t say what’s on our hearts.
